I was reading an article that impressed me. It was about noticing good things around you and the good qualities you possess. First you start by changing the bad habit of focusing on your negatives. Then you make it game to notice everything good that happens to you.
Here's a thought...The author said, "It isn't arrogant or self-centered to appreciate and accept who you are."(paraphrased)
One person went about her day giving out awards in her mind: the best behaved dog award, the most colorful landscape for a fast food drive-through award, the most courteous driver award. If you do this yourself, you could call them "Happiness Oscars" like the author.
Then you need to say good things to yourself...give yourself credit or acknowledgment. It went on to say to take time to notice positive things every day. And take time to savor them.
The article was written by Marci Shimoff author of THE New York Times best seller "Happy For No Reason: 7 Steps To Being Happy from the Inside Out."

Just wondering
See these cute shoes? I saw them online. My shoes don't look like these.
Lonnie was wearing very cute shoes today (not these).
Do you think our shoes tell something about us?
Do you ever look at other peoples shoes and think about them?

The Announcement
Charity and Andrew decided to make the "Announcement" to everyone at her work with little cupcakes. Here she is making pink little baby bodies on the cupcakes.
Now she's adding the heads.
This is the cutest one.
Welcome to the nursery!
Great job, Charity and Andrew.

New dance
Is Apricot the new popular color? I needed to get a ton of Apricot colored tissue paper and of course the only way was to order it. But the sight with the best price was out..."should have it in 4 or 5 days"... didn't happen. So I ordered it elsewhere (not the best price). It came today. Pretty stuff.
A ream of tissue is 480 sheets. This is a ream of tissue paper.
We are working on another big dance. This one is a 5 stake prom. We feel like we've gotten a late start on this one, so I hope we can pull it off. And the leaders we were given to help, were all pulled off the project. So now we're using some YSAs. They are excited so I'm relieved!
We are looking for great refreshment ideas. We have some, but are always open for more.

shop till you drop day...
Shopping in general is really fun, don't you think? Well, today was a great day for finding really beautiful and different furniture. There was plenty out there too! Between all the chairs, chaise's, china cabinets, chests, curios, (too many c's) and tables, I could have changed my decorating style and colors a number of times. And then there was the china! As I've said before, I could use a few more kitchens. I love all these new dishes! But, I didn't but any. (That was for my daughters, who want me to stay strong!)
Well I'm in the decorating mood I guess, because I sure saw lots of really fun stuff today. I would love to show pictures, but sadly I forgot to take my camera... however, this chair I found online looks a lot like one I saw today that I thought was gorgeous. Only the one in the store was upholstered in a soft teal and dark brown floral and the wood was very dark brown. I know the perfect house for that chair! (Not mine... but I would love that color scheme!) It would fit in a small cozy little reading spot. Just use your imagination.
Now look what else I found while lurking online...
this fantastic zebra print chair...
and this fun plaid.
But this last chair looks the most comfy!
Truth be known, I'd like all of them in different fabrics...but they have good bones.

different today?
When I decorate my house, I always try to make or buy something really different from everyone else's. For example, this sofa. Most who know me would have said I would never have used red. But in this house this different sofa works beautifully. And besides, I do like antiques. The thought is, sometimes a little different is ok. I'm thinking this can also apply to us.
There is a poem I heard the other day. I thought it was pretty good.
THE ONE AND ONLY YOU
Every single blade of grass and every flake of snow,
Is just a wee bit different, there's no two alike you know.
From something small like grains of sand, to each gigantic star.
Each one was made with this in mind, to be just what they are.
How foolish and imitate and how useless to pretend,
When each one of us comes from a mind who's ideas never end.
There'll only be just one of me to show what I can do.
And likewise you should be really proud that there's only one of you.
So if you're feeling a little off or "different" it's probably very OK.
